In most cases with anything below a 30hp motor the cost benefit to getting a prop repaired as compared to replacing is roughly even, unless the prop has just gotten a little rough on the edges.
If the prop is rough on the edges, you can get away with a bastard file and clean up the edges again. Otherwise, if the prop is missing chunks, etc. it would be best to replace. They can be repaired, but cost can go up quickly… If you go the DIY filing route, balance can be an issue, so really pay attention to each blade shape as you file around the edge…try to get them as identical as possible.
In terms of replacement props, I’ll be honest, I am a fan of Solas propellers as they are cast through a squeeze casting method rather than a direct pour. This results in a blade that flexes less and can be cast thinner, giving you a better bite (more like a steel prop) and they can also be cupped a bit more on the tip and trailing edge. check out their website at https://www.solaspropellers.com/.
